The Association
Austrian Public Affairs Association (OePAV) was founded in September 2011. Membership is open to public affairs professionals in companies, trade unions and NGOs or self-employed public affairs consultants. OePAV members work in various business fields (Lobbying, Government Relations, Issues -and Stakeholder Management, Corporate Social Responsibility). OePAV facilitates the exchange of knowledge of the national and international level. Thus, OePAV cooperates with national and international associations to advance the exchange of experience.

OePAV Objectives
To develop the public affairs business by defining quality standards and a code of conduct; to support an exchange of knowledge and to provide education and training; to increase the perception of public affairs as management tool; to improve its reputation in business environment, the media and the public. Last but not least, to make Austrian politicians and administration aware of the importance of reputable public affairs work.

OePAV Code of Conduct
Members of the Austrian Public Affairs Association commit themselves to comply with the principles of the OePAV code of conduct. Any violation of Articles 1 to 8 may lay the ground for a proceeding. A proceeding may result in sanctions ranging from a formal written warning to a complete exclusion from the OePAV. Violations of the code may be notified to the code of conduct committee by OePAV members, political decision makers, media representatives or individuals. Peter Jann, former judge of the Court of the European Union and the Austrian Constitutional Court heads the code of conduct committee.

 

Public Affairs have increasingly gained significance in Austria and as a result the Public Affaists Austrian Association – Österreiche Public Affairs Vereinigung (OePAV) – emerged. OePAV aims to unite key areas of public affairs – Lobbying, Government Relations, Issues and Stakeholder Management and Corporate Social Responsibility. OePAV facilitates the exchange of knowledge of the national and international level and its goal is to strengthen the position of the public affairs business in the public.
